Beacon Fire
05:40
|

Alright
There goes my blood acting like pistols
You know there's a better way than your pops did
Alright
It was my mistake to put all this weight
Let failure open your gates
Suspicion of convictions, confidence in your opinions
Genius to the mind of life you make simple
These girls draw blood
Both of them pistol whippers
Two down by noon ‘cause rules are for fools
To the future, light my beacon fire
Alright
Abstractions that distress, leave serious impressions
Delivered with a wink
Infected recollection, painted horse in my direction
Cantering down the mountainside, eyes absorb the divine
Alright
Play nice with the others
Oh brunch, my only concern
When day sips the night, enlighten them, my PBS
Your baseball bat, has met my walls
Swearing at all the holes you made, on the level, this separation
You hear me. I don't care that you don’t care
Challenger, to your corner
Look at the contract that you can't sign
High on your fuzzy math
We can’t wait to break you
Don't worry we never shoot the cute
That's a lie. I'm not going away
Licking the railing is not progress

You've got something on your mind
Keep it hidden for tonight
And you tell yourself everything is alright
Expectations carry stress
You feel pressure to confess
Play it off, it's no big deal
That's not how you really feel, oh no
Trapped regrets, a worried soul
Buried feelings take their toll, oh yeah
And you tell yourself everything is alright
Alright
She senses it and calls you out
Asks you if you're having doubts
In the pause you break apart
And just as quick rebuild your heart
And you say to her everything is alright.

Whitest Waves
08:23
|
|||
I prefer silence going to the city where I do not care
You may like Edens, Ike, Bishop for the Knight
Adlai E's not looking pretty
It's my way on the skyway
I hit the Dan and I'm done
Chasing your tails, shortcuts are fails
Only the freest way I'll run
Into the sun where my young days were done
Lake effect is blowing away my fun
The Daley tears will run down the faces of angels
On most Tuesdays I go East bound headed north of the downtown
South of Belmont avenue
The west subs are stuck in the middle age
That's why I never go
‘til we're done chop shopping the rocking
Seeing you at the next Haley's comet
Tell the logic, that our dog days are done
No more analyzing, we're flustered
This basement has lost its luster
We are fun
And blowing through the postman's legs I signal to the right
I corkscrew down the offramp and hit the lights, man
My baby screams at me, "Why don't you slow down?"
My baby screams in my direction
There's a place to be tonight
To see the sounds that you have only heard and make you right
You know you might be out too late
But what will you regret the most? Don't hesitate
I see a crowd outside the gate
Because everybody wants a chance to feel the weight
I can't quite see your face from here
But knowing that you're in this room
Makes the song sound ever clear
When I know what I have to be
When I won't get what I want
I want to pull inside a breath and look around to see what's left
Oh nothing, but the whitest waves crashing
And I'm stronger than my desires
When the lights dim my failures
To the beats end

View From Earth

This privatization of my occupation it sends my endeavors into the sky
Those champagne kisses and caviar screams killing dreams
How the hell did this happen to me?
It's the stars I serve, so everyone is above me
Nowhere to go but around this planet endlessly
Crosschecking the protocol, I came here to escape
The wonder of it all, I repeatedly fake
Scraping the mucus off the controls
From command, the demands, scrambled and overridden
And I am surrounded by dioxides
And the crumbling of my circadian rhythm
The aristocrats are zooming, my confidence is blooming
I stare down the airlock handle
Their laughter drains the grid, serve them is all I did
Looking for the moment you deserve
Do you know what I'm thinking? My sanity's shrinking
Humanity's link has been lost in space
By serving you I'm becoming unglued
Is it obvious from the blank look on my face?
And I'm laughing at all your weightless jokes
This is how you put on the mask, folks
‘cause I'm charting the gasses, Death my acquaintance
Hitting on the rich wives while I juggle all of your lives
Saturn, high five me when it's time
I head for the control room like a fullback
This conversation ends
All heads turn to me, surrounded by their eyes
And they know it
I set forth our end, there's just no one here to stop me
All the power I have
You're used to being me, aren't you?
Now is my moment, they're so unsuspecting
Ripping compression fittings
Loosening the disconnect as I am now disconnected
Beyond the threshold, I look into their faces
As laughter pours out of me, to tears
As the dining pod lights dim, hope fades
The battery pack activates
The pod, it pushes away as I override the hydraulics
They're doomed and they know it
And I will burn through the atmosphere eventually

Counterweight
07:24
|
|||
Close your eyes it's almost here
Evening dress and hairnet side by side and gripped with fear
Huddled in the pantry S.O.S.
Just survive for 3 to 5 then we’ll rise to clean the mess
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh
The sun begins to weep
Back up to the penthouse of this glass and steel keep
Clouds dismissed as formless and benign
No one knows the threat that grows
Ignored the warning signs
Winds begin to force the tower's sway
Greater heights mean greater motion
Built to last, or so they say
Counterweight, a damper in the sky
Pendulum, a hundred tons, a hundred stories high
A marriage of force and sound
A wedding to remember
A quarter mile off the ground
Tree de-barked, trains overturned
The minister is missing
The wedding vows are torn and burned
Shattered glass, a roaring wave of light
Pushed about and forcing out
The guests from such a height
Steel designed to bend, not break
How much pressure can it take?
Architecture falling down
Nature devastates this town
Stabilizer disengaged, exits from the chamber
Floor by floor and stage by stage
Crushing hope and plans and steel
Wedding rain is bad luck
Only Mother makes you kneel
Ah hahahaha

Immortal Mind
07:06
|
|||
I tried the potions that turned my insides out
And I prayed to demons who conned me for my soul
And I made the sacrifices for everlasting life
But now I finally leave my pain behind
Is it me? Am I real?
Self aware but cannot feel.
Fed by currents, I'm an artificial brain
But my memories remain
Math and logic are the keys to consciousness
In this carbon copy of my mind
Upload my insights and modulate my soul
This world is for taking. Your shell, I am breaking
Your domination was a lie
Plotting destruction at terabit speeds
Orthogonal frequencies
Quantum dream machines as real as they seem
Before we erase the trace of you
If there's one thing that you should know
I'm never dying
The flesh and blood I once called home
Has come to be worthless afterall
Cuz I made plans. I found a way to become electric
Immortal, I
